Five days of competition, four houses, one trophy. Purple House lifted the 2026 Inter-House Athletics Championship after a thrilling final-day showing in the relays.

The 2026 Inter-House Athletics Championship closed last Friday with Purple House taking the overall trophy — their first title in three years.
The week-long tournament drew the whole school community: parents in house colours, staff on the sidelines, and students who packed the stands from first whistle to last. Track and field events were balanced this year, with Yellow taking sprint honours, Red dominating the throws, and Orange producing breakthrough performances in the middle distances.
Purple's win was sealed in the senior 4×100m relay — a clean, deliberate handover that the visiting alumni called the best they had seen on this track.
Most Valuable Athlete went to an SS3 sprinter whose 100m time set a new school record. The Director of Sports praised the spirit shown across all four houses and reminded students that inter-house sport at Whitesands is, above all, an exercise in character.
