Whitesands Orchestra Performs at the End-of-Year Gala
A full hall, a forty-piece student orchestra, and a programme that ranged from baroque to contemporary Nigerian composition. The Gala set a new bar for the Music Department.

The Whitesands Orchestra closed its season with a Gala performance on the school grounds that drew families, alumni and music staff from across Lagos.
The programme was deliberately ambitious — Vivaldi alongside a contemporary piece commissioned for the evening, and three traditional Nigerian arrangements that received the loudest applause of the night.
The orchestra is now in its sixth year. It rehearses twice a week, draws from Years 8 to 12, and is led by a faculty conductor with a soft spot for early Baroque. Auditions for next season's intake will open in September.
