Art Exhibition 2.0

On the 11th of July, we opened our doors to celebrate our students’ creativity and artistry. Two years after our first public exhibition, which featured about 80 works, we now have over 120 works celebrating the effort and dedication of our students. We are happy to celebrate and encourage all our students not only to make art but also to use it as a means of expression and a medium for promoting unity.

One of the works exhibited is the iconic “From Waste to Wealth” project, which began as a school-wide project last year. It depicts an abstract drummer using three musical instruments representing three of the major ethnic groups in Nigeria: Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo. It is a product of the collective effort of our students, who collected over 20,000 bottle caps to create the artwork.

We appreciate the presence of our students, who created all the artworks; their parents, for their generous support; and the siblings and friends of Whitesands School for honouring our invitation.

We are also grateful to Dr Jess Castellote for honouring our invitation to open the exhibition. We thank the Whitesands Art Club team; Mr Nosiru Olarenwaju; Mr Oyinloye Olarenwaju, the curator; and Mr Barry Josiah, the organizer of the exhibition, for putting this year’s exhibition together.
